Liebe Familie Eibl,
vor mittlerweile mehr als drei Jahrzehnten hat Frau Professor Eibl mir den Weg in die Patienten-fokussierten Biowissenschaften gezeigt, wissenschaftlich rigoros und persönlich begeistert. Über die Jahre war und bin ich Ihr für dieses Vorbild dankbar, und im Kontext der Firma in der ich noch immer tätig bin inkludiert dieser Dank auch Herrn Doktor Eibl.
Die Beiden bleiben unvergessen, mein Mitgefühl gilt der großen Familie

Liebe Familie Eibl, sehr geehrter Herr Dr. Musil,
mit großer Traurigkeit habe ich die Nachricht von Marta und Johann Eibls Tod erfahren und kondoliere aufrichtig. Als langjähriger, befreundeter, wissenschaftlicher Weggefährte von Marta Eibl und Bewunderer von Johann Eibls biomedizinischen Unternehmerqualitäten blicke ich mit Hochachtung und Dank auf das vielfältige Lebenswerk dieser beiden vorbildlichen Wissenschaftler und Lebenspartner. Ihr Leben war bestimmt von der Sorge um Patienten mit komplexen immunpathologischen Krankheitsbildern, der Erforschung neuer diagnostischer Verfahren und innovativer Therapiemöglichkeiten. Die internationale Wissenschaftsgemeinde verliert mit Marta Eibl eine emphatische Ärztin, sowie eine kreative, kritische, hoch geschätzte Forscherin und mit Johann Eibl einen stets neugierigen, genialen Unternehmer. Beide haben als originelle Wissenschaftler und liebenswerte, großzügige Menschen einen festen Platz in unserem dauerhaften Andenken.
Der Familie erweisen wir unsere aufrichtige Anteilnahme.

With deep sadness I have learned of the departure of Prof. Martha Eibl, my adored teacher and mentor. She was the person that attracted me to a carrier in immunology and gave me utmost inspiration for a life-long interest in basic science. The combination of clinical work and research successfully determined her life and was model for many others to come. Prof. Martha Eibl was an excellent and multiple awarded physician-scientist and an inspiration to team up with. Her dedication to unravel mechanisms of human primary and secondary immunodeficiencies is legendary. More than this, she has contributed to an improvement in diagnosis and treatment of immunodeficiency, has set up a Clinic to treat affected individuals, knowing that a perfect management of disease can prolong life and has started a company to develop vaccines and processes in biomedicine. At the personal level, I have had the privilege to collaborate with her extensively over a period of more than thirty years with great highlights in the field of immunology and far beyond. Next to clinical immunology and basic science we loved arts, literature and music and shared h ours of intensive debate after work or while joining national- and international meetings. She will be missed as an unwaveringly visionary scientist equipped with empathic dedication to her patients and those that needed help. In this respect she was admired by all her colleagues and friends. I am sure her legacy will live on.

Liebe Familie Eibl
Währen meiner langen Zeit bei Immuno als Assistent des Vorstandes und als in der Öffentlichkeitsarbeit Tätiger schätzte ich Herrn Dr. Eibl als toleranten,kultivierten und menschlichen Chef eines exklusiven international tätigen Unternehmens der pharmazeutischen Industrie. Er und sein Vorstandskollege Dr. Otto Schwarz pflegten eine von allen Mitarbeitern geschätzte Unternehmenskultur, wie es sie heutzutage wahrscheinlich nicht mehr gibt.
Frau Prof. Dr. Eibl lernte ich über zahlreiche Firmenveranstaltungen und wissenschaftlichen Veranstaltungen als fröhliche, charmante und liebenswürdige Dame
kennen.
Es tut mir leid,daß die Beiden und mit ihnen auch das Unternehmen nicht mehr sind.

Dear Professor Eibl,
I knew your husband and you since I was 25 years old. You were my doctoral mother and I subsequently had the honor and pleasure of being involved with you in the establishment of the Biomedizinische Forschungs-GmbH. You have also always been a mentor and role model for me. I learned scientific work and critical thinking from you. I have particularly fond memories of your and your husband's participation in my wedding to my wife Susanne in 1999. Even after our professional paths parted, we always kept in touch, be it through birth announcements of my children, participation in Christmas parties, birthday greetings and occasional exchanges of views. I will miss you and Vienna and Austria will miss you as a great person and as a great researcher. To your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren I extend all my sympathy. In great sorrow,

It is with deep sadness that I have been informed of Prof. Martha Eibl's departure. She was a great physician-scientist and an inspiration to all of us dedicated to the study of human immunological disorders. More than this, she has been an advocate for the patients and their families and throughout her entire life she has fought to improve diagnosis and treatment, with a special focus on immunoglobulin replacement therapy. At a personal level, I have had the honor to collaborate with her in moving the European Group of Immune Deficiencies become an international society. Beyond medicine and science. Prof. Eibl was a pleasure to talk to - she loved arts, literature and music in particular. She will be deeply missed but her legacy stays with all of us and the patients she loved so much.

Liebe Eibl Familie, ich durfte in meiner Karriere bei der Immuno sowohl für Herrn Dr. Eibl als auch für Frau Professor Eibl arbeiten. Es waren schöne und spannende Jahre und es gab überhaupt kein Problem, als ich schwanger wurde. Selbstverständlich wurde ein Weg gesucht, damit ich weiter arbeiten konnte. In der Vor Handyzeit war es auch für die Eibls nie ein Problem jemanden telefonisch zu erreichen. Ich werde nie den Anruf im goldenen Kreuz vergessen, als ganz dringend eine vorklinische Studie besprochen werden musste und mich die Kinderschwester beim Wickeln meines zweiten Sohnes ablösen musste. Das Herzblut, dass die Eibls in die Forschung gesteckt haben, bleibt sicher einmalig und unvergessen. Ich habe viele Erinnerungen daran und werde wohl halblogarithmische Verdünnungen immer als Eibl'sche Sprünge bezeichnen. Es ist berührend, dass die Beiden wie Philemon und Baucis aus dem Leben scheiden durften. Ich hoffe Sie finden Trost in diesem Gedanken und ich sende Ihnen allen mein aufrichtiges Mitgefühl, ich bin dankbar, dass ich so viel Zeit mit den Eibls verbringen durfte, herzlichst Susanne Schober Bendixen

Dear Eibl family, I am deeply sorry for the loss of your loved ones.
I had the pleasure to meet Martha in several scientific meetings and collaborate with her for a long-time on a project of immune response in patients who underwent gene therapy. I remember with great pleasure the meetings she organised in Austria in a beatiful venue.
She and her group made substantial advance in the field of vaccination and immune responses in patients with primary immunodeficiencies. She was a really pleasant and kind person, very collaborative and always available to discuss results and share her experience.
It's a big loss for the PID scientific community.
My sincerest condolences to you all.
